• We all know that first steps are the hardest,

    yet, here you are.

Meet Melissa Sue Rosbottom, LMFT, EMDR Certified Therapist, counselor for adults in Naples and across FL

You’ve tried everything in your power to overcome the emotional pain you’re feeling but nothing seems to help. It feels like the pain has control over you rather than you having control over it. You’re digging deep to fight against those “not good enough” thoughts or “I don’t matter” beliefs. Yet, somewhere in the recesses of your being, there is a glimmer of hope that’s inviting you to find a way out of today’s darkness and into tomorrow’s light.

To walk through our personal journeys and find healing, I believe we need compassion, a safe space, and a trusted guide. So, I might be a guide of sorts, but you know the roads you’ve traveled and the destination you want to reach. Really it’s my job to follow and attune to you. Wherever you are ready to begin, we start there.

Clients work with me because they are ready to heal, grow, and transform from tragic life experiences, sudden and unexpected losses, and crippling fears and phobias. Oftentimes my clients have gone to therapy before, but they still yearn for deeper healing and lasting transformation.  I also work with many clients who are first timers to the process, who have tried to hunker down,  grin and bear the pain on their own, but have come to realize it’s not going to cut it.

Whether you are a newbie to therapy or have been around the block a few times, the process of working together looks the same. First, we build rapport and trust.. Second, we identify a road map of your life experiences and figure out what your therapy goals are. Third, we do the processing or “navigating” together to help you reach your final destination. Fourth, we support you in adjusting to the new you.

What it's like to work with me

You’ve done all the things.. You’ve watched videos, listened to podcasts, and read the books. Maybe you’ve even tried therapy in the past. But nothing seems to help, at least not for the long haul. What I bring to the table as a therapist is empathy, freedom to be real and transparent, a sense of safety,  two decades of experience, and specialized training that allows us to get to deeper healing and transformation.

Working with people just like you has taught me virtually everything I know. Of course my formal education including my undergraduate and graduate degrees gave me the foundation to work in my field, but the wisdom has come directly from my clients. It also comes from my specialized training in modalities like EMDR.. Throw in  lived experience of almost 50 years (wow, time flies) and doing my own personal growth work, this is what I bring to you when we work together.

    Clients say I help them…

    • heal
    • take their power back
    • create lasting change
    • become the best version of themselves
    • finally believe they are good enough and that they matter
